After I bought the boat, the first task was to arrange to have the boat hauled from the Hylan Boat Yard in Sedgewick, Maine to my house in Bass Harbor, Maine. I started trying to arrange tha haul the day I took posession (Sept. 7, 2007). It took a while to make the arrangements because haulout season had already started here. I finally managed to arange the haul for the afternoon of September 18, 07. I drove over to Sedgewick that morning to take the mast off the boat and otherwise prepare it for a 50 mile trip over the road. That preparation included removing the canvas cabin cover and the canvas side windows. I also taped the glass windows shut to keep them from blowing open on the road.
Tortuga loaded on the trailer and starting to
move.
The driver arrived at about 1:45. It took him about 35 minutes to load the onto the hydraulic trailer because the boat had been blocked with the bow higher than the trailer could lift to. Once the boat was on the trailer, he moved it to a flat spot where he re leveled it and then tied it down.
Tortuga being strapped down for the haul
Once the boat was secure on the trailer, the driver put the wide load signs and flags on the truck and then we were on our way for the 50 mile haul.
Tortuga blocked at my house
We arrived at my house at about 4 P.M. and the driver blocked the boat on my lawn where I had set concrete blocks into the grass to spread the load. He was finished and on his way by about 4:35.

The final picture shows the starboard bow. You can also see the mahogany cabin house in these pictures now that the cabin cover is off the boat.
