Lapworth 50 Simple Half
Model
This model is a simple half hull of a Lapworth 50 sloop built
by Cheoy Lee. The model was built from drawings I drew
based on pictures of the boatand is at a scale of 1/2" = 1'. The
model is 25" long and is mounted on a mahogany board finished in satin
varnish. Only 6 of these boats were built starting in the 50's.
The first few boats were built in wood, then they switched over to fiberglass.
The original design was a classic double ender. This particular boat
had the transom modified to a sugar scoop. The hull form is still
a double ender below the waterline.
This picture shows the finished model. Note the
teak toe rail.
