One the of the hardest parts of model building is getting the lines drawings for the boats. Sometimes the builder or designer will provide the lines and sometimes they won't. For many older boats the builder and designer are no longer in business. In cases like that the drawings can sometimes be gotten from a museum collection like the Mystic Seaport if the designer was prominent. However, there are many boats where the lines just aren't available. In those cases I draw my own lines from pictures and outline drawings of the boats. I have both training and work experience in naval architecture, so I am able to produce quite accurate lines from a series of different views of a boat.
I am pleased to offer the following lines drawing services.
1. Copies of lines I have drawn are available. You will receive complete lines scaled to whatever scale you want. The drawings will be as I drew them without modification. - $25.00
2. Customized copies of lines I have drawn. I will redraw the lines to your specifications. For example, if you plan to use the lines to build a model by the lift method, I will redraw the waterlines to a spacing equal to the thickness of the wood you plan to use. Of course, the drawings are available at whatever scale you want. - $40.00
3. New lines drawn for the sail boat of your choice. I will draw a set of lines to your specifications of any sail boat you want. - $50.00
Unfortunately I am not able to offer power boat lines because I simply do not have enough experience with power boat hull forms to draw them as accurately as I would like.
I am not able to sell lines provided to me by yacht designers or builders, but I will be happy to provide you with the contact information so you can buy a set of lines yourself.
