These are the lines I drew. I will use these lines to make the back plane and the frames. This drawing does not include the deck camber or cabin house, but I have that information on other drawings.

Yesterday I cut out and laminated the back plane for the model. Today I cut out the frames and glued them to the backplane. When that was finished I built the deck camber and installed the deck. Finally I put the top two planks at the sheer and also put two planks at the waterline. I expect to be out sailing for the next couple of days, but I will be back working on this model on Thursday.

The model is now planked down to the waterline. As you can see I have not yet sanded the transom to shape. The next picture will show the model fully planked.

The hull is now fully planked. The next step is to fiberglass the hull. After that I will start the filling and fairing process.

The model has now been fiberglassed and I am starting the filling/fairing process. Once that is done and the model has been primer painted, I will build the cockpit and cabin house.

The picture above shows the model after the first coat of fairing compound has been applied and sanded off. I have also primer painted the hull to hi-light flaws in the surface and mark the waterline. The filling/fairing/priming process will continue until the hull has no surface flaws.

I have now finished filling, fairing and priming the hull and deck. Today I cut out the cockpit and built the cabin house. The next step is to face the cabin house and cockpit with 1/32" styrene.

The cabin house and cockpit have now been faced with styrene. I have also built the hatch bases, the frame for the companionway slide and the mast step. In addition, I have put the first coat of finish paint on the topsides, deck and cabin house. I will let this paint cure for a few days, while I go sailing, and then paint the contrast color onto the deck.

This picture shows the cockpit. You can see the footwell, the slightly recessed seats and the cockpit locker. There is also a cutout for the engine gaues in the aft end of the cockpit well.
Well after 6 coats of paint I have finally gotten an acceptable coat of paint on the topsides. I have also rebuilt the mast step to be more correctly scaled after a comment and new measurements from the client. Tomorrow I will repaint the deck and cabin house. Once that paint cures I will paint the red boot stripe and the tan contrast color onto the deck. Once that paint has had a day or two to cure I will start attaching deck and cabin details. As you can see, I have also made up the mahogany mounting board and put the first of at least six coats of varnish on it.

The sailing weather has been fantastic so I decided to let the topsides paint cure for a few days before I painted the non-skid area on the deck and in the cockpit. Between sailing trips I have also managed to put four coats of varnish on the mahogany mounting board. Today I painted those areas. Tomorrow I will paint the red boot stripe and then I will get started on building detail components for the deck and cabin house.
I have now installed the ports and the bow sprit. I have also painted the boot stripe. Tomorrow I plan to install the toe and rub rails.
The toe and rub rails are now on the model. I have also installed the teak eyebrow on the cabin house as well as the teal hand rail and the teak for the companionway slide. Although you can't see it in this picture, the teak trim for the companionway is also in place. Finally, I cut out the propeller aperture. The next step will be to install the cockpit coamings. When that is done I will build the companionway slide and storm hood and start installing cleats, genoa tracks, winches, chain plates, etc.

I have now put the cockpit coamings, storm hood, companionway slide and all other teak trim onto the model. From here on I will be putting on deck hardware.

Here is the view from astern showing the cockpit and companionway a bit better.

I have now built and installed the steering pedestal and painted the bottom. Tomorrow, after the botom paint has had a few hours to cure, I will mount the model. It is just sitting on the mounting board now.

Here is a closeup showing the steering pedestal and wheel. I will mount the pedestal guard after I mount the model on the board. Once the model is mounted I will start building and installing deck hardware (i.e., cleats, winches, genoa tracks, etc.)

I am getting very close to having this model finished. The primary things which remain are the anchor, genoa and staysail tracks, the main travellor, the shaft and prop and a few cleats. I will finish the model over the weekend unless one of the 55 knot gusts forecast for tonight takes my boat off her mooring. My fingers are crossed.

The model is now finished.
