Here is the completed model. One difference between this model and the real boat is that I moved the offset propeller and shaft from the port side to the starboard side so it would show on the model.
Here is the stern view. This picturel shows the the detailing of the stern boarding ladder, the pedestal, wheel and cockpit.
Here is the midships detail picture. This shows the rigging on the boom quite well as well as the cabin tom and side deck detailing.
Here is the bow detail. I am quite pleased at how
the stainless steel plow anchor came out.
Construction Details

Dec. 12, 08 - Yesterday I scaling the lines and then cut out and laminated the back plane for the model. Today I cut out the station molds and started planking the hull. The yard stick is in the picture to show the size of this large half model.
Dec. 13, 08 - Today I finished planking the hull down to the waterline and built the transom.
Dec. 16, 08 - I have now finished planking the hull. Over the next few days I will fiberglass the model.
Dec. 26, 08 - I have now finished fiberglassing, filling, fairing and primer painting the model. The next step is to cut the sugar scoop into the transom. After that I will touch up a few imperfections on the hull and then reprime the model. I will also get the waterline straight.

Jan 15, 09 - I has been three weeks since my last update. During that time I finished filling, fairing and priming the hull. After that I cut the cockpit in and built the cabin house. I also laminated the 17"x42" mahogany mounting board. Now that the house and cockpit are finished I will paint the model and varnish the mounting board.

Feb. 1, 09 - Since my last update I have been painting. I put five coats of paint on the topsides, deck, cabin house and cockpit before I sprayed the final coat on. After that I painted the non-skid hatteras offwhite and then sprayed it with clear flat. The next step was to paint the flag blue boot stripes. When that was done I put the gold leaf on vinyl cove stripe on and made up the gold leaf with flag blue outline name graphic. I also built the varnish on the mounting board to the penultimate coat. After I took the picture above, I sanded the mounting board down and put the final coat of varnish on it. I will let the varnish cure for a couple of days and then I will mouint the model. From here on, I will be working on detailing the model.

Feb. 9, 09 - I have now finished varnishing the mounting board and have also put the teak and ports on the model. After I did that I mounted the model on the mounting board. From now on, I will be building and installing detail components.

Feb. 20, 09 - Since my last update I have been building details. I have now finished machinging and installing the winches, the boom and vang, the stainless steel anchor and the transom detailing (next picture). Over the weekend I will build the traveller and the main sheet. After that I will work on the deck and cabin top detailing.

Feb. 20, 09 (cont.) - This slightly fuzzy pixture shows the finished transom.

Feb. 29, 09 - Since my last update I have finished building the main sheet, traveller and its adjusting tackle. I have also put the rails around the companionway hatch and put the deck hatches on the model. This coming week I will work on finishing the deck detailing and then move on to the cabin top and cockpit.
