Construction Details

Sept 21, 09 - Over the last few days I have scaled the lines, laminated the backplane for the model and cut out the station frames.  Today I glued the station frames to the back planeand started planking the model.  I will finish planking the hull this week and then fiberglass it.

Sept. 25, 09 - I have now finished planking the model down to the waterline.  I have also cut in the transom.  The next step is to plank the model below the waterline.

Oct. 4, 09 - Today I finished planking the hull, keel and skeg.  After I took this picture I started fiberglassing the hull.  After I finish glassing the hull I will cut the present deck out and build the final deck in to generate the bulwark.  After that I will begin filling, fairing and priming the hull in preparation for paint.

Oct. 16, 09 - I have now finished fiberglassing the hull.  I have also cut away the temparary deck and put in the final deck at the appropriate level below the top of the bulwark.  You can see the outlines of the cabin house and cockpit on the deck.  The next step is to fill, fair and paint the hull and deck.  After that I will build the cabin house.

Oct. 26, 09 - Yesterday I finished putting the first coats of paint on the filled and faired hull.  After I took this picture I spot filled imperfections on the hull.  Tomorrow I will sand that filler out and start repainting the hull.  I expect to put 4-6 coats of paint on the topsides before I am finished.
