This model is a simple half hull model of a Bristol 40. The model is built to an overall length of 23" to match the scale of the client's other models. This model was built from the original Ted Hood lines supplied by the Fontaine Design Group. The model is mounted on a mahogany maounting board.

Dec. 28, 08 - Yesterday I finished scaling the lines and then cut out and laminated the back plane for the model. Today I cut out the station molds, installed the deck and started planking the hull. This picture shows the model with the deck, shear and waterline planks in place.
Dec. 29, 08 - Today I finished planking the hull down to the waterline. I also cut in the transom.
Dec. 30, 08 - Today I finished planking the model and cut out the mahogany mounting board. After I took this picture I put the first coat of varnish on the mounting board and put a layer of fiberglass on the deck. I will cut the propeller aperture into the keel and rudder after I finish fiberglassing the model.

Jan 3, 09 - I have now finished fiberglassing the model. Next week I will cut the prop aperture in and fill, fair and primer paint the hull.
Jan 11, 09 - I have now finished filling, fairing and priming the model. The mounting board also has two coats of varnish on both the front and back. After I took this picture I spot filled a few imperfections, repainted the topsides and revarnished the front of the mounting board. Tomorrow I will sand the model down and start the finish painting.

Jan 15, 09 - I have now finished painting the topsides. Yesterday I painted the boot stripe and today I put the gold leaf cove stripe on. All that remains is to paint the bottom and finish varnishing the mounting board.

Jan 19, 09 - The model is now complete except for the nameplate which is on order from the engraver.
