October 27, 08 - Yesterday I cut out the backplane for this model and laminated ith with fiberglass set in epoxy. Because this model will be mounted directly to a wall without a mounting board, I drilled two holes for mounting screws in spots where I had reinforced the backplane. Today I put the station frames, deck, sheer and waterline planks on the model.

Ocrober 28, 08 - I have now planked the model down to the waterline.

October 29, 08 - I have now finished planking the hull. Over the next week or so I will fiberglass the hull and thn start filling and fairing in preparation for painting.
Nov. 5, 08 - I have now finished filling, fairing and priming the model. Yesterday I put the first coat of topsides paint on the model and made up a cherry mounting board. I am not happy with this particular piece of cherry because of the dark flare on the lower left corner, so I will get another piece and make up a new board.

Nov. 13, 08 - Since my last update I have made up a new mounting board and put an additional five coats of paint on the topsides. As of today I think I have one coat of topsides paint to go. After that coat of paint is on and buffed out, I will paint the bottom and do the boot and cove striping. The mounting board still has about 8 coats of varnish to ge. I am also still varnishing the teak toe rail. I expect to have this model finished in about 10 days.

Nov. 20, 08 - The model is now nearly finished. All that is left is to install the varnished teak toe rail, put the final coat of varnish on the mounting board and then mopunt the model. I put the final coat of varnish on the toe rail today. Tomorrow I will put the last coat of varnish on the mounting board and mount the toe rail. Due to the cool temperatures in my shop, I will let the varnish on the mounting board cure over the weekend and mount the model on Monday. The model should be ready to ship out before Thanksgiving, if the engraved nameplate arrives on time.
