Detailed Construction Pictures

June 2, 06 - I started work on this model on June 1, 06. This picture shows the model with its laminated backplane, station frames, cambered deck, sheer and waterline planks and appendages. The model is sitting on the nearly finished cherry mounting board. The model is approximately 18" long.

June 4, 06 - Since my last update I have finished planking the hull down to the waterline. I have also cut off and planked the transom. At present the transom is solid. I will build the sugar scoop, swim platform after I fiberglass the hull. The next step is to plank the model below the waterline and then to build the keel.

June 10, 06 - I have been tied up finishing another model, but last night and today I finished planking the hull and building the keel on this model. Tonight I will start fiberglassing the model. That normally takes three days - one day each for the deck, hull and transom - since I use epoxy which requires overnight to cure.

June 16, 06 - The model is now fully fiberglassed. I will let the epoxy cure over the weekend and then start the filling and fairing process. The engraved brass nameplate also arrived and is shown sitting on the mounting board. Please note that I put the rudden in the wrong place for this picture. When the hull is fair, I will cut in the swim platform on the transom.

June 23, 06 - I have now finished filling, fairing and priming the model. I was planning to paint the topsides and deck tomorrow, but sine we are supposed to have very high humidity this weekend, which kills gloss, I will wait until Monday. Over the next few days I will continue varnishing the teak for the toe rail and will build the toe rail chocks. I expect this model to be ready to ship out by the end of next week.

June 28, 06 - I have now finished painting the model except for the bottom. Today I installed the to toe rail and chocks and put the cove stripe on. All that remains is to paint the bottom, put the sissy stripe on the boot and mount the model.

June 29, 06 - Last night I painted the bottom and today I put the sissy stripe on the boot and touched up the varnish on the toe rail. The model is now finished and ready to ship out.
