Jan. 19, 06 - Here is the finished model, with the exception of the engraved brass nameplate The model shows the classic Hinckley sheer. Noteworthy features of this model are the teak toe rail and the gold leaf on vinyl cove stripe with Hinckley Talaria fore and aft.
Dec. 28, 05 - I started work on this B-40 model last night when I laminated the backplane and cut out the frames. This morning I installed the deck and frames and then planked the hull down to the waterline.

Dec 28, 05 (cont) - After lunch I got ambitious and finished planking the hull on this model. I suppose I did that because the Hinckley Bermuda 40 has such a sweet hull form. After I took this picture, I put a layer of fiberglass in epoxy on the deck.

Jan 4, 06 - It has been a few days, but I have finished the first stage of filling, fairing and priming the hull. The next step is to spot fill pin holes and other imperfections and then reprime. I have also bought the cherry for the mounting board, which the model is sitting on.

Jan. 7, 06 - I have now finished filling, fairing and priming the model and have sprayed the first coat of topsides paint on. The model is shown sitting on its cherry board, which has only its first coat of varnish. I will let this coat of paint cure until Monday (Jan 9, 06) and then repaint the topsides. In the interim I will be varnishing the mounting board. Hopefully I will be able to paint the boot stripe on Wednesday and the bottom Friday.

Jan. 13, 06 - Over the last few days I have buffed out the topsides paint, painted the boot stripe and gotten the cherry mounting board to the next to the last coat of varnish. Over the weekend I will install the teak toe rail, cut out the propellor aperture and paint the bottom of this model. I expect to receive the vinyl cove stripe with the characteristic Hinckley Talaria on Monday. So this model should be finished on Monday.
